Easy DIY Flavored Teas

I have had a perpetual battle with giving up energy drinks. I can’t even tell you how many times I have “quit” but what I can say is that I have drastically downsized and coffee is becoming more and more a ‘thing’ in my life… which of course also means I enjoy Starbucks. It is convenient really, because I am a preschool teacher and teachers are always being gifted Starbucks gift cards so I am starting to develop my own list of complicated 6 word drink preferences. One of the recent obsessions has been their flavored teas, at the same time my husband has been enjoying different hot teas at home. While cruising the app one day I saw how they flavor the teas and had an epiphany… and now I am going to share it with you!

When I noticed in the preferences of the app the syrup options I immediately thought of the huge selection of syrups over at Smart & Final and how I always grab them for my coffee bars and snow cone needs but I had never thought about using them for tea. I don’t know what I was thinking really so as soon as it came to me I hopped in the car and picked up a couple of flavors, Black Cherry and Peach. It was hard to narrow it down and honestly, I will probably start collecting them because this was amazing.

Also, I picked up the pumps because at $2 they just make everything easier and cleaner.

I steeped some black tea while I filled a large mason jar with ice and lemon slices, now that I think of it, you can add your desired number of pumps as well. I used two black tea bags for one coffee cup of hot water and steeped for about 15 minutes.

Once it was ready all you have to do is pour it over the top and you have just performed a miracle! I am not a tea person, like at all. But these syrups have brought me over to the dark side (if that is a thing) and the sugar free varieties are calorie free so that is amazing in it’s own way.

I hope this tidbit of information has been helpful to you and let me know what flavors you would try together in the comments below! These also work great in hot teas and flavored teas as well, the possibilities are endless!
