My daughter goes back to school next week and I have to admit that I feel much more prepared than I was last year. When she went into Kindergarten I had no idea what to expect, but this year I am going in with more knowledge and understand that it is imperative to hit the ground running! There is so much going on with getting back into routines, extracurriculars starting back up and all the extra events held at the elementary school that I have been working hard this month to get organized. Today I am sharing my tips and free printables on how I make sure the house stays clean when life gets busy.
When it comes to cleaning the house, it is so important to stay on top of everything to keep effort to a minimum. This is why I clean one room a day, I make sure to pick things up all over the house every day, but a good cleaning on each room once a week. I made this sweet little set of printables the outlines what I do on each of these cleaning days and you can download yours here —> Cleaning Printables
After I printed them out, I cut them on my paper cutter, placed them in a laminating pocket and ran them through my small laminating machine. This way it will be sturdy as well as water resistant while cleaning.
Then I trimmed off the excess and put a hole in the corner of each one with my hole punch.
After that, all was left was to put it on a ring and start building my cleaning caddy! The great part of a cleaning caddy is you have everything you need in one grab and go place. I can get it out of the closet, look at that day’s list, tackle the room and put it away until the next day. I had the caddy on hand, but I went out and grabbed some wash cloths because it makes it very easy to clean and toss them in the laundry and I know that the teal ones are for cleaning so when the come out of the wash, back in the caddy they go!
When it comes to cleaning supplies, I have to share my favorite line of products- Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® from Whole Foods Market. I was at a friend’s house a few months ago and first tried the Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Hand Soap and it smelled amazing! Then the next time I was at the store I picked up the Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Dish Soap in Lemon Verbena scent and it was as impressive as it’s scent and since then, I never looked back. I know it seems like it would be expensive, but Whole Foods Market has great prices on Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® products and so I always grab them when I find myself there a few times a month. What is even better is right now, Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® will donate $1 to Whole Kids Foundation for each of the first 25,000 cleaning products purchased at Whole Foods Market from 8/24 – 9/13 to help kids learn to grow and enjoy eating fruits and vegetables. Isn’t that awesome? Every product I have tried I have been happy with and most recently it has been the Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Multi-Surface and Multi-Surface Concentrate in Lemon Verbena scent. I can clean everything from the kitchen counters to the bathtub with one spray that is chock full of essential oils and plant derived ingredients.
It is no surprise a few great products replacing a number of special use items also helps save time and having all my supplies in one spot shaves down my time spent cleaning even further. Also in my caddy I have a two sided sponge, scrub brush and dusting cloths so I am ready for everything on my hand little list that also fits quite nicely in this caddy.
