We did it y’all! We made it through Thanksgiving and we are on our way to Hanukkah and Christmas! I love this time of year and I also love that we celebrate so many different things in our home through the end of the year and the next up for us is Hanukkah! I wanted to make something fun and interactive for my mantle this year and so I had some fun with Scotch® Expressions Tapes and came up with this fun Hanukkah menorah that Avery can add her own flames to for each night of Haunkkah!
I loved putting this together and I can’t wait for Avery to start playing with it and adding flames to it for each night of Hanukkah. It all started with a piece of wood and some washi tape. You could use a canvas as well but I always have wood on hand so that is what I used for this project.
I cut it down to a 12 x 12 square and spray painted it a metallic silver. When in doubt, go metallic!
Then I gathered my Scotch® Expressions Tapes that I tend to collect every time I go to Walmart. I wanted to have some fun with my holiday colors this year and I am LOVING teal so I went with tea, pink and confetti washi tapes from Scotch® Expressions. I also grabbed some double sided mounting tape to help me make the flames.
To start, I took the Scotch® Expressions Tapes in gold glitter and stuck it to one side of the Scotch® Create Double Sided Mounting tape.
Then from that I trimmed out little flames and then trimmed some magnet pieces I had on hand to fit behind each flame.
Aren’t they cute all together?
To make the Hanukkiah (Hanukkah menorah) I layered the various colors of washi tape to form the menorah and the 9 candles (one candle for each day and the tallest candle is called the shamash which is the helper candle that you use to light all the other candles). I thought a video would be a fun way to share how easy this is as well as another idea for this craft, I made another one on my refrigerator so Avery can play with it whenever she wants in addition to adding flames to the one that will sit on the mantle! What is fun about this is that older kids could have fun doing this craft on their own!
Fun, right? I love how festive and bright it is on the mantle and that it is something we will be able to keep and use year after year.
