We love a movie night in our family, it is a great way to get together and it is a super fun reason to throw a party! With the new release of MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron on October 2nd, it was the perfect excuse for the ultimate superhero party! Guests were invited to come in their favorite superhero costume, have some pizza, do a craft and then enjoy the movie with a full popcorn bar! The best part? With Halloween right around the corner, it was super easy for everyone to pick up their favorite superhero costume at Walmart and it made the party that much more fun!
I feel like parties have a few key ingredients to be successful, and first, there always has to be a craft. I like to choose easy projects that the children can use their imagination on and these DIY shields fit the bill! I put out some crayons and white paper plates and the children got to decorate their shields any way they liked! Then, while the movie was going on, I added some hot glue and elastic to the inside so they could hold on to them and they were done!
Next up, I worked on the food table, for both tables I found some great MARVEL’s The Avengers place mats that ended up going home with the kids as favors because they LOVED them! I also grabbed some of those great character cups from Walmart with the Avengers on them to serve as my centerpiece holders for the cute little superheroes I cut using my Cricut Explore. This is always my favorite way to make a centerpiece because it always looks great and all you need are the cups, some foam for the inside, paper shreds and some cute paper crafted characters! Plus it works for every theme! This was the perfect place to eat pizza which is always our favorite movie night dinner.
Once the tables were set, I was able to grab a chance to embellish Avery’s costume a bit! While at the store, I let her pick out two costumes because the prices were so great and she went with Captain America and Spiderman.
I am serious, the selection is huge! Check it out! I also wanted to add something so I grabbed some red tulle and elastic so I could make a red tutu that she could put over both costumes to give it a girly flair! She loved it and it did also help me tell her apart from all the other little superheroes with masks on at the party!
The tutu was super easy to put together and for a 4 -6 year old you need 2-3 rolls of tulle. I like to wrap it around something that is the length I am going for, which in this case was around 11 inches, to make my life easier and then I make one cut a the bottom to cut all the pieces at once. Then I fold the piece of tulle in half, put the folded end under the tulle, pull the other two ends through and down. The pictures make it much easier to follow but it really does come together quick!
Now that the party guests are dressed, fed and crafting their heart away, it is time for the movie! We knew as soon as it came out we had to watch MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron! Who doesn’t love a superhero movie?
As for the snacks, because all movies have to have snacks, I put together an awesome superhero popcorn bar with all the fixings. I wanted to have toppings of all colors so the kids could put together a Hulk, Captain America, Thor or any superhero inspired snack for the movie. They also could choose their favorite character of cupcake as well! They were mini but perfect for little hands!
In fact, I even have the cupcake picks to share with you all today! There are two options, a smaller set for mini cupcakes like in the picture, and a larger set for standard sized cupcakes! I hope you like them! Personal use only, of course!
