One of the hardest things about going back to school is changing the routine. You go from all these lazy summer days back to a structured schedules packed with things that you need to remember for various parts of the day. There are teacher notes and paper work and morning snacks and supply lists, and it all can be a lot, so I find it is easiest to make lists and completely organize everything I can the night before. One of my favorite tools for the job are my Ziploc® brand bags with Easy Open Tabs; I am sure you can relate.
I took the functional use of Ziploc® brand bags with Easy Open Tabs a step further by adding fun labels. These help keep my family organized during the hectic back-to-school season,, and it doesn’t hurt that they are adorable either! I have a ton of free printable labels for you throughout the post, but first, we have to stock up on the bags. I went to Ralphs and grabbed a variety of Ziploc® brand Storage bags with Easy Open Tabs in every size including snack, sandwich, freezer and storage. This girl loves to have options you know and it doesn’t hurt that from August 9th through the 30th there is a great $.50 promotion to save you even more money!
They are super easy to find at Ralphs too!
Let’s start with snack. At Avery’s new school, I need to provide a morning snack (as I am sure many of you do), but they have to be clearly labeled. No problem here! What I like to do is get them all ready at the beginning of the week and pre-package tons of crackers, pretzels, rice snacks and so on in Ziploc® brand Snack bags with Easy Open Tabs and then keep some fun labels in my kitchen drawer. This way all I have to do is go to the cupboard, grab a snack, label it and toss it in her backpack. EASY! You could also go the step further and pre label all of your snacks for the week which would make mornings even easier!
Then you have the school supplies. Now most of the time the kids have a school box or something to that effect, but then there are usually additional supplies you want to donate to the classroom. I always stock up on markers and crayons and walk in the first day with a durable Ziploc® brand Freezer bag with Easy Open Tabs full of these items for the teacher because, as one myself, you always need more. Add another cute label so the teacher knows what it is and set them next to the door for the first day of school.
Now let’s make our way to lunch. I have four lunches to make each day, one for Avery, one for Scott, one for me and one for my husband. That is quite a variety, and it can seem daunting to put them all together in the morning! That is why I like to prep as much as possible on Sundays, so I can just grab and toss each time into the correct lunchbox either the night before or in the morning. I portion out things like salad dressings as a dip for veggies, small portions of peanut butter, crackers and pretzels in Ziploc® brand Snack bags with Easy Open Tabs. The best part is the Easy Open Tabs work great for both Avery and Scott! As a teacher as well, I know Avery’s teacher will appreciate that she will be able to open things on her own!
Last but not least, dreaded paper work. You have to do so much writing at the beginning of the year you think you are going to get a hand cramp, and once it is done, you have to make sure you get it back to the school! The last thing you want is to have to fill everything out all over again! I made another fun set of labels that you can put on any Ziploc® brand bag with Easy Open Tabs I tend to put my paperwork in a Ziploc® brand Storage bag with Easy Open Tabs but sometimes small pieces or field trip permission slips might also fit in Ziploc® brand Sandwich and Snack bags with Easy Open Tabs as well. Then these can also be tossed in the backpack and everything is clearly labeled for the teacher!
