It is summer time and I live in San Diego and it has been HOT, maybe even hotter than usual. But despite that, Avery still loves to play outside and I enjoy coming up with fun new activities which is where these great Kool Aid juice drink sidewalk chalk paints for Avery and a nice peach mango spritzer for me, make for the perfect afternoon activity.
As with most situations in life, let us take care of the children first, shall we? I only needed 3 ingredients for the sidewalk chalk paints so they came together really quickly and with things I always have on hand; cornstarch, water and the Kool Aid unsweetened drink mixes. I like to get a variety of flavors so that my paints have a different colors and scents, here where my choices for this round of fun:
To make the paints it is beyond easy, all you need to do is mix equal amounts of cornstarch and water in a small dish and add a good spoonful of the Kool-Aid juice drink concentrate.
Then mix it up and add a brush and you are ready to paint!
So much fun and comes right off the sidewalk with water or a good rain (I would love for the latter but I don’t think that is going to happen), plus the colors are so vibrant!
Alright, so now the kids have their sun screen and are occupied so it is the perfect time for mom to make a little spritzer to enjoy the afternoon right along with them. Much like the sidewalk chalk paints, I wanted to keep this to a few ingredients and things that I already have on hand because I don’t want to spend too much time making a drink when I can spend time enjoying the afternoon with my daughter. For the drink I started with the awesome new 96 oz ready to drink bottles that come in many great flavors, many that I never saw when I was younger! While at Walmart I picked up Peach Mango and my goodness, it made the best Peach Mango Spritzer!
I grabbed a mason jar, naturally, and filled it up halfway with seltzer. Then I sliced up a peach and threw that in with some ice and topped it off with the Peach Mango Kool-Aid. This was the perfect afternoon mocktail for enjoying one of our favorite summer time activities.
The best part? I was able to pick up everything for just a few dollars at Walmart on my weekly trip! Plus, Jim Dillard, pro fisherman, could be coming to your local Walmart to help promote the new 96oz bottles! There will be product giveaways, t-shirts, games, and more fun activities!
