My Summer Mantle {Part 1}

I love switching out the mantle from season to season but it is still a skill I am working on. I dream of having one of those mantles with the perfect number of items that gives that full look without crossing over into cluttered.

At my craft class last weekend, we worked on 4th of July and Summer themed crafts so I thought I would create a set of items that could be on the mantle all together, seemed to make sense to me! We made three crafts; a wood sign, a set of reversible decor blocks and a cluster of firecrackers. I think they are all really cute and everyone seemed to enjoy making a set of their own!

First, I made the sign, I went with ombre of course because, well, maybe just because I am a blogger and we love ombre! Then I found a sweet and simple quote that I cut from vinyl with my Cricut and added to the top.

Next were the reversible blocks, I have been loving all of my decor blocks and they are a super easy, quick and fun way to add to a mantle or shelf for not a lot of money. I love even more the revisable ones because I am able to switch just a couple things for a holiday and then change them back right after so I don’t have to completely redo the whole look. These say ‘summer’ on one side and ‘4th of July’ on the other side- it is perfect!

Last were these super simple little firecrackers, this would be such a fun craft for kids and adults alike! I just cut 2 by 2 pieces of wood to 6″,7″,and 8″ and painted them in red, white and an aqua blue. Then I used a thumb tack in the top and hot glued a looped piece of floral wire. Last I just tied them together with some baker’s twine. Easily under 30 minutes and SO cute!

I am going to be adding some more over the next few days and I can’t wait to show you!
