While looking for ideas for birthday gifts, I stumbled upon this great tutorial HERE from Make It & Love It for magnetic paper dolls. I loved the idea and if it weren’t for the fact that I couldn’t find any paper dolls at the time, I would have made it for all the birthdays we had to go to a couple of weeks ago!
However, over the weekend, I went to meet my dad at Target and I had a plan to find some paper dolls. But, right when we walked in the door, my dad walked over and showed Avery a Minnie Mouse coloring book that had paper doll stickers! What say huh? He didn’t even know I was looking for it!
Ashley had dolls out of a thick cardstock so she used an adhesive magnet sheet, because mine were stickers, I just bought a regular magnet sheet. There were two large pages of stickers and one Minnie so I bought 2 large magnet sheets and then a small pack of the adhesive magnet sheets. After my Joanns coupons, it was about $6.50.
First I put two of the adhesive sheets on the back of Minnie and then cut out around her. Save the scraps.
Then I put all the stickers on the other sheets, there was a set for Minnie dress up and then a set for the boutique. I ended up using the last of the adhesive sheet and all the scraps to get all the stickers adhered.
Then I cut everything out, yes for the many stickers it took a bit of time. I figured she could play with Minnie on the inside of a cookie sheet I had that I picked up from the dollar store. I also just took Minnie and the pieces in the bag with us to the restaurant and it worked great!
I got these little bags from the dollar spot at target, they are sandwich bags and there were 3 in the package.
It wasn’t until later that night that I finished the other set, the boutique scene was on the back cover of the coloring book and the cardboard was too thick for the magnets to stick on, so I tore off the top layer with the picture on it.
Then I got out my Xyron Mega Runner and put a bunch of strips all over the back of my cookie sheet, the same one as above.
Then I just put the scene on top and trimmed off the excess around the edges.
Another bag for those pieces and some washi tape around the edges and we were set!!!
Now all I have to do is make the awesome fitted cover that Ashley made for hers!!
