$1 Stenciled Door Mat

I know, I know I just shared a cheap-o $2 door mat HERE, but when I was at the .99 store, I saw plain door mats and I know that they don’t last long so I had to grab one!

PLUS I just got my AMAZING stencil from  Cutting Edge Stencils so you know I just could.not.wait.

Here is how I see it, when the first one gets all mangled, I will already have a cute one to swap it out with, what do you think?!

I really love the way that it looks with the wreath, so fancy!

It was super simple to do, I first taped off the edges of the mat with some tape and then used that to hold it down to the craft table surface. Then I placed the stencil on top of it and taped that down.

Next I got the paint and roller they sent me all set up per the directions, paint, and napkin to roll of excess.

But quick note about paint, do you see the price on mine?

Yup, Behr for .50, whenever I go to Home Depot I check the paint section for their “clearance”, did you know that they had a clearance section? Basically when they mix paint and for some reason it isn’t picked up or doesn’t turn out right or whatever, it gets discounted and put here. These little sample ones are always .50 and I buy all of the ones they have, every time I go. Usually I can pick up 1-3 each trip, I think I have 12 or so right now, it is an easy way to  stock up on paint for cheap!!

But back to the stencil, I rolled on a coat and then let that dry and rolled on another one to be sure because it was a dark rug that was sucking up the paint.

I.am.in.shock with how cool it came out looking!!! The lines are sharp and it for sure doesn’t look like dollar store door mat anymore!!!

Don’t you love my stencil?! Want to WIN one??? Well make sure you come back this FRIDAY!!!!!
