Little Bit of Genius

This is a tip that I am always doing at home, especially before I have a party.
One of my least favorite tasks in the kitchen is cleaning up a floured surface. Whenever I make breads or cookies where you need to flour the surface- I cringe a little because it is a pain to clean up. Flour plus wet sponge equals a mess that is going to get worse before it gets better.
So one day I came up with an idea to cover the surface in plastic wrap (in this picture it is on my dining room table, but I have done it on the counter too). This way you can flour your surface as needed but when you are done you just pull off the plastic wrap and throw it away- no mess!
I just did this last night because I made challah to go with dinner and it had risen for 2 1/2 hours and during that time I cleaned up the house. When it came time to braid it, I didn’t want to ruin all the cleaning I just did in the kitchen so I put out the plastic wrap- braided it up and viola! It was a erfect solution!

Oh my gosh I hate cleaning up flour about as much as I like listening to nails on a chalkboard. And there are multiple times a week I am cleaning up flour off my counter… this.is.awesome. PLAIN AWESOME! Consider it pinned!

This is a great suggestion! I scrap off most of the dough with a plastic spatula before I attack the surface with a sponge. It makes a big difference.
