Couponing {Getting organized}

So, now that you have the coupons and know what all the crazy words mean- what do you do with them?!
If you say get a little coupon organizer… well, you are wrong.
I started with this but it was ridiculous, having to go through all of them and their multiples loose in a little folder- it took 10 times longer than it does for me now and I have probably 10 times the coupons.
Basically it comes down to two options:

{file vs binder}

Click “Read More” to find out the Pros and Cons of both!
You will find people that are very passionate about both methods.

I am a binder person, why? Because that is what my OCD likes.
When I first learned to coupon I went on a play date with a vet couponer at the park and she schooled me. She is a file person. That is what her OCD likes, and that is great because that is what works for her.
Here are the pros and cons for both!
{file: pros}
*No clipping, just make a folder for that week and the name of the insert and throw it in, quick and easy.
*Most blogs that share deals reference the coupon by the date and insert name- by having the file, it makes it EASY to find them.
{file: cons}
*You have to plan your trip and clip what you need for each one. If you find something that you didn’t clip a coupon for you, you luck out.
{binder: pros}
*You have all your coupons ready to go anytime you go to the store and easily visible in their plastic pages.
*If you find additional deals (like in the clearance section, 50% + a coupon, happy dance) you have all your coupons with you so you can grab them up.
{binder: cons}
*Takes longer to clip and file into plastic pages than just throw in a file folder.
*Binders can get big and bulky (I carry mine with pride though, in the begining I was kinda shy, but not anymore).
Basically, you just have to weigh both options and decide what works for you. I much prefer the binder because I have gotten some AMAZING clearance deals that I have then stacked with a coupon and gotten awesome scores. Plus I like having them ready to go and easy to flip through whenever I run to the store.
If you have decieded to do a binder, then you need to think about how you would like to organize your sections- yup, more decisions. Either way you are going to want a ton of baseball card 9 pocket plastic pages to store them all.
I chose to do it by area, so refrigerator/pantry/freezer/household and so on. You could also do it by aisle in your store or alphabetical by brand name, or whatever you come up with.
Again, just whatever is easiest for you!
SO, what would you choose!

Here is a look at my binder!

The hubbs surprised me with mine one day and he just picked it up from an office store, it is perfect because of all the extra spots, like there is a spot for scissors and a pen:

Plenty of space for coupons:

AND this little file section attached to the front cover with a separate zipper:

I look forward to your questions and comments!

    I’ve been trying to decide which method to use. I’ve been using the file system, but it’s quickly turning into more of a “pile” system. I think you’ve convinced me to go with a binder!
