Valentine Wooden Blocks

Being a preschool teacher has given me the eye for many unusual things that I can’t even think about throwing away- they can always have a purpose. While this occasionally drives my husband nuts, he deals with me and my scrap wood, styrofoam, beads, bobbles, branches, concrete blocks and other number of odd scraps I tend to collect because he is the best! Through my blog hopping this week I noticed a bunch of great Valentine’s day crafts with x’s and o’s and a few with 2×4’s and I found a bucket of 2 x 4 scraps in my garage and thought I would combine the two ideas and came up with these Valentine Wooden Blocks.

Here is what you need:

2 x 4 scraps, mine were 6 inches long
Scrapbook paper
Rhinestones
Mod Podge
Brown acrylic paint

First I painted all but the front of the pieces of wood, I used 2 coats.

Then I cut the paper to fit the front.

Next I used my trusty Mod Podge to attach the paper to the front of the blocks.

Then came using my Cricut to cut 2 x’s and 2 o’s out of white card stock and attaching them with the Mod Podge. I attached mine at an angle because I thought it was more fun that way and then cut off the part that hung over the edge.

Lastly I added a bit of an embellishment with something sparkly- rhinestones in this case- on the letters in various ways.

Very easy and added a little festive flare to my living room.

You sure are the Queen of Craft Michelle! I wish I could get myself organized again so I could get back to crafting.
